“Reached by way of quiet adventure, this secluded cabin stay is guided not by itinerary but by atmosphere. A place to pause, breathe and simply be.” Karla Hall, Hidden Scotland

“Coming to the Blue Cabin by the Sea is like putting on your favorite jumper or wrapping yourself in a blanket; it makes you instantly feel at home, cosy and relaxed. Happy hours on the beach and in the cabin watching the tide come and go. Thank you & Wuff Wuff” Silke and Frida

“The interior balances craftsmanship with comfort. Damask silk curtains from home and fashion brand Mulberry frame the windows, while Willow pattern tiles surround the woodburning stove, with a handmade shell mirror above. Navigational charts paper the walls and oak floors reinforce the cabin’s unpretentious charm.” Sian Williams, Country Living

“Well! What a week!!! A total mix of weather about – all interesting, none the less. Great to see stormy seas and hightides, waves crashing over the harbor wall and getting soaked by surprise waves (even though you really secretly know they are coming). Then beautiful blue skies, pancake flat sea. SO DYNAMIC. Theres noting like being by the coast. Brave swimmers in the harbor at high tide without wetsuits and I’m proud to say we both swam in the North Sea (nearly naked!) Big thanks to Declan for wonderful Lobster and Crab cooked to perfection by my husband. Lovely also to be part of the annual launch of Ben and Jills boat on a very wet rainy cold day along with 4 other random day trippers. What an experience. Highly recommend St Abbs for a walk along the cliffs. We were lucky enough to see Kitiwakes and so many Razorbills perched in ridiculous places. A great wander in an amazing landscape.” Heidi and Sarah

“Our third stay and as smitten as ever! Highlights: Sitting on the harbor wall and watching the sun coming up over the hill in the morning drinking hot chocolate. Swimming in the harbour. Bracing but 5mm of neoprene helps. Spotting a stoat trying to haul a pigeon up a cliff face. Yellowhammers a plenty. Treasure trove of beautiful stones in the cove round the corner. Wood burning stove and cosy evening playing wingspan. Thanks for a fabulous holiday!” Cristelis Cursham Clan xxxx

“We saw all the mods of Scottish weather in 24 hours & luckily all perfectly timed, so we got a beautiful sunlit walk along the cliffs, an evening by the fire with the rain drumming outside & a lazy morning watching the cottages disappear and reappear in the harbour. We loved revising Cove & just examining the Blue Cabin & discovering new details. Thank You. XX” Julia Rampen

“We found this Cove by chance on the way home from Edinburgh. It was breathtaking then and was still for the weekend we stayed here. Even in the rain this cabin and cove are enchanting. Never have we felt so relaxed. Can’t wait to return next year and the years after that.” Lee and Rich

“The cabin exhibits none of the sentiment of over decorated coastguard cottages. No anchors or ropes, ships in bottles or ornamental lighthouses, No bateau blue stripes. Rather, flowing forms of seaweed, with kelp and bladder wrack shaping cut-outs in the boxed-in bedrooms, and echoed in bronze hooks and handles designed by Jill who observes that “seaweed is like a garden plant which changes throughout the year.” Nonie Niesewand, House and Garden

“Absolutely Heavenly. Peace solitude and amazing weather. 2 Days of clear blue skies and 2 days of wild rain and wind. Big seas are soothing to hear and see from inside with the fire on. This place is good for the Soul. Thank you.” Terry

“And just like that, our Blue Cabin by the Sea Adventure comes to an end. I am writing this as a 17-year-old. I hope we meet again sooner rather than later. Although our stay was short, it was undeniably unforgettable. I realize that what makes this place so special is its simplicity. I say goodbye to this magic little Blue Cabin with a renewed sense of hope/ Hope that life although dauntingly complex at times is beautifully simple. Thank you for reminder. And of course, thank you for everything! We truly couldn’t have asked for more! From Mexico City to Cockburnspath. Cheers.” Andres, Santiago, Lolo and Daniel

“This visit to the Blue Cabin was too short, but other than that it was perfect. the magic of Cove Harbour. Smell of the sea, classical music on the radio, chance encounters with new friends- oh, and lobster – made it an unforgettable couple of days. We are already dreaming of our return.

For very many years I’ve been coming to this harbour – for solitude, for treasure hunting with my nephews, to impress my woman (Sarah, writing above) with my ‘secret place’ and now – finally – thanks to a gift from my little sister. I’m actually staying, I know! And to whoever is reading this now – please don’t tell anyone about this place – let it be ours – yours mine and everyone in these books- secret!!!” Andrew and Sarah

“Visiting cove is always an absolute joy. But this is the first time we have had a chance to really settle into this unique place. And we’ve relished every second! Such huge thanks for giving us the opportunity to start learning its rhythms and exploring its endless subtleties. Here are a few memories we’ll be taking home with us: Clambering up to cathedral rock/endless horizon scanning for Dolphins / Dodging waves as they crash over the Harbour wall / leaping waves in Pease Bay / Curlew Calls echoing around the bay // fingertips tracing ancient stand stone// papery late summer Tulipa flowers // Watching hermit craps, do battle / wondering if the tide will destroy our epic sand castle / peppering the obliging fishermen with questions / cracking meaty crab claws. Then there’s the Blue Cabin itself, all sorts of praise have been lavished on it in these pages. And it’s all true! An extraordinary blend of elegance, comfort, functionality and inspiration, all packed into a neat blue footprint. Endless thanks. We are just so thrilled to have stayed here!” Ben, Cal, Beda & Ghyll

“Like Lewis Carrolls Wonderlad or C.S Lewis’s Narnia, a portal transposes you to a parallel world when you walk down the long dark tunnel to cove harbour where the Blue Cabin awaits. Here you find an enchanted and enchanting timeless universe which keeps its own rhythm as the tide fills and empties the bay. We were visited by Gulls, Heron, Eider Ducks, Cormorants, Gannets and Oyster Catchers. A Symphony of songbirds, Chuff chuffs, Linnet, Finches, Robin Blackbirds and countless many others maintain a sweet dawn to dusk chorus from the yellow gorse bushes studding the hillside. The garden is bright with yellow and white narcissi and daffodils, primroses and celandines. And from our Blue Cabin windows and terrace we survey our private universe and its rich palette of colors which constantly alter beneath the ever changing skies. It will be hard to leave this place. Thank you.” Maike and Penny

“Me and my mama have stayed at the Blue Cabin for 4 nights and I loved every moment of it. We have sung songs, tried to tune the radio, talked about the impossibilities of life, tried to load a website, explored caves, dared each other to see who could stand in the water for longest and pretended to be mushrooms*. This little cabin is the perfect way to disconnect from the world. With velvety sands, caves to explore and tunnels to boo your parents in, ** it’s the perfect place for kids to play and explore nature ***. The best part is that after your crazy adventures you curl up in a big armchair with a hot chocolate**** and nice book and be nice to your parents by actually being quiet for once! I would suggest anyone who likes adventure, hot chocolate**** 8and nature. If you don’t, go home ASAP!

From Agatha – age 10 aka the writer of this, Ali – Age 47, *Actually, forget that bit. **now this just sounds like an advert. ***you do realise an actual kid is writing this. ****don’t forget to kindly remind your parents about cream and marshmallows. ***** Also, tea works.” Agatha and Ali

“My parents stayed 10 years almost to the day and still talk about their stay like it was yesterday, and now I understand why. What this place is, is pure magic! Watching people, dogs and the fishing boats come and go is a precious pace of life, one that I hope we will get to come back and experience time and time again. The Preservation of this harbour and the respect people have for it is a lesson for so many places of beauty. Thank you for keeping it safe. We will be back” Katie and Tom

“Seascape Serenity, Captivating electric storm. Exhilarating sea swims. Cliff top walks and talks. Goldfinches, Robins and Herons to admire and wonder at. Dive bombing seagulls to fascinate. History and community. Tragedy and peace. A tin cabin of calm amidst a world gone mad. Thank you for the reminder, for the nourishment, for the time.” Natalie and Justin

“I look out of the window and all I can see is a dancing cascade of blue consuming everything.

Instead of cars speeding on the road during rush hour,

I feel the broken-down pieces known as sand between my toes,

Instead of fluffy hairs on a shop bought carpet,

I can smell the salty air, instead of the roaring car exhaust,

I can hear the rushing of waves slowly eroding the harbour walls

I love it here!” Jenny Kyle

“Our first time in cove at The Blue Cabin having discovered it by chance even though we live in Edinburgh and holiday around Scotland all the time! What a perfect place to unwind after an eventful year.

We didn’t use the car at all. Brought crab and lobster from Declan, Quite an adventure cooking a large lobster. Homemade coleslaw and delicious new potatoes form Community Shop in co’path went very well. Swam everyday, good walks from here, hours watching the view, reading – relaxing. Perfect. Thank you. (Saw a sea weasel by the cabin yesterday)” Joanna and John Hinton

“Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! It has been the most life affirming week of beach walks, rock pools, reading, napping & deep relaxation. I ‘should’ have been writing but I realised the relaxation was what I really needed. What a magical magical place.” D, F & D

“Famous Five eat your heart out! What a stunning place to spend my 30th. An idyllic hideaway. We discovered Cove / the Blue Cabin by the Sea many years ago and have waited to return with our son. What an incredibly special place to spend a few days exploring.” B, B & S, York

“The Coviest of Coves…”

“Thank you for the beautiful ‘hidden treasure’. The sound and view of the sea, and all kinds of birds around the Cabin are very beautiful. And so was the weather this week, dry, sunny and summerlike temperatures. We can recommend to do some walk as described. And for a delicious fresh crabmeal, buy one or two crabs from the fisherman on the LH22 St Peter. You will get them alive straight from the sea… enjoy.” W & K, Netherlands

“The most tranquil place I have ever been to, the scenery is insane, we got amazing weather & the Blue Cabin by the Sea is perfect, me and my husband had the best time going long walks along the coast. So sad to leave the peaceful place but we will definitely be back.” C & J, Glasgow

“Another lovely visit. We always hope for a storm while we are here and it didn’t disappoint, huge waves crashed over the harbour wall and me and my dad very nearly got soaked while fishing; we had to retreat to the lovely cosiness of the hut. We caught quite a lot of fish off the harbour wall. Again we saw some rare seabirds with Manx shearwater and Sabines gull being the highlight. It really was a great stay and we are looking forward to our next visit.” Felix, Oscar, Sarah, Peter and Tolly
